Dr. Joanne Lo is the CEO and Co-Founder of Elysian Labs. She is a recognized Subject Matter Expert in the fields of photonics, MEMS, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Prior to the foundation of Elysian Labs, Joanne was a Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Labs, where she led the design and development of weapons components and conducted research to progress the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of her conceptual innovations. After her time at Sandia, Dr. Lo was a researcher for Google ATAP and Adobe Research. Joanne received her PhD from UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), HCI and also holds a M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, respectively, from UC Davis.
Scott Roper, newest addition to Elysian Labs, is the Chief Operations Officer. He joins the company after 25+ years of military service, retiring as an operationally-proven Intelligence Officer with a cumulative 36 months of ground-based deployments to Afghanistan, Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf. Prior to joining Elysian labs, Scott served as the counterterrorism lead at U.S. Navy Central Command and as the Senior Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community. After his EOD tour, he was the senior military lead of target development at U.S. Central Command, in support of coalition operations in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, and other Middle East countries burdened by conflict. Scott earned his M.S. from Naval Postgraduate School in Cyber Systems and Operations (CSO), and also holds a B.S. in Psychology and an A.A.S in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Excelsior College of New York.
Adam Hutz, Lead Product Designer and Co-Founder of Elysian Labs, is a PhD candidate from the Rhetoric Department at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in computer-aided design, rapid invention prototyping, and user-centered design innovation processes. He has instructed over a dozen unique courses in the fields of design, engineering, and writing and composition, and applies his cross-disciplinary domain expertise to the most challenging UI/UX problems faced by our nation's warfighters today.
